Explore Lisbon - Extension to the Experience Portugal Member Event

This morning, it is time to say goodbye to the Algarve as we make our way north to Lisbon as the Experience Portugal Member Event comes to an end. 

After checking out of the Vilar do Golf resort, we travel up through Portugal's interior to the historic city of Évora in the Alentejo region. The city is famous for its roman temple and its striking gothic cathedral. Our guide will lead us on a walking tour of Évora, and we will visit the cathedral and bone house.

After lunch, we will continue our route north to Lisbon, Portugal's capital. Upon arrival, we will check-in and enjoy an evening at leisure.

This morning we head out with our guide to explore Lisbon, Portugal's bustling capital city. Located on the banks of the River Tagus as it joins the Atlantic, Lisbon has grown up around the many hills rising steeply from the waterside. The city is full of history and fascinating stories.. 

On our guided tour, we will pass by some of the most important locations in Lisbon, including the Parque Eduardo VII, Plaza del Marqués de Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade, Plaza de Rossio and other notable places in the centre. 

We will then head down the river to Lisbon's Belém district, home to many of the city's most notable monuments and sites. Here we will pass by the Jeronimons Monastery, the iconic Belem Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries. We will also enter the Coach Musuem, a fascinating musuem showcasing numerous historic horsedrawn carriages from Portugal's Imperial times.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to explore Lisbon - why not visit St George's Castle, high on the hilltop, ride one of the iconic yellow trams, visit the bustling markethall food space down by the riverside or hit the shops. 

In the evening, we head out for a special dinner, to a traditional fado show. Fado is a historic Portuguese style of music, originating in Lisbon, and you'll be entertained as we dine on local dishes.

After breakfast at the hotel, we head out to the surrounding area of Lisbon to discover some of the area's best sights.

Our first stop is Queluz Palace, which dates back to the 18th century. Considered by many as the Portuguese Versailles Palace, it is famous for its beautiful gardens.

From here, we head into the hills to the town of Sintra - one of most beautiful region in Portugal. This magnificent medieval village is home to a 14th century Royal Palace and has a quaint atmosphere and many souvenirs shops.

In the afternoon, we head to the Atlantic coast, as we travel to Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of continental Europe. From here we follow the coastal road to Cascais—Lisbon's famous upscale beach resort—with its beautiful panoramic bay and then through Estoril, famous for its Casino, before making our way back into Lisbon.

This evening, we will dine together as a group in Lisbon to round off our time in Portugal

It is time to say goodbye to Portugal as you are transferred to Lisbon Airport for your onward flight home.
